Eligibility for any MicroGrants: Fully Completed Profile and Display picture
Dear Members, In order to pass the minimum eligibility check for any type of mircogrant, first fill all the sections in your profile including a display picture.
The Executive Committee can not approve a microgrant request from a member with incomplete profile.
Hope you keep your profile updated! Thank you very much!

It would be interesting to learn when the Micro Grants will be announced. Re filling in the profile: I have been told it is 94 % for several years, although it should be okay. Seems something does not work as it should.
Dear Evy,
The rules for micro-grants state that "MCAA Micro Grants are available only to Marie Curie Alumni Association members; and only to members who have their on-line profile at least 90% completed, and with a clear recent profile picture."
As many people were ignoring this, we have now hidden the application and claim forms from members who do not have this minimum 90% (there is an alert explaining this).
As your profile is 100%, and you have a picture, the application forms are visible to you when you are logged in. (I just verified this).
You should therefore have no problem in completing the appropriate form; if not please let us know (via contact@mariecuriealumni.eu)
The call for micro-grants is 'permanent' through until October this year, so you can apply at any time.
I did not see any recent micro-grant application from you, so it might be that you did not complete all mandatory fields in the form (in which case it will not submit).
Please let us know if you have any further problems.
Bet regards,
Simon
Thanks for the message. My profile has been over 90 % (actually 94 %) since I became a member in 2013. I learnt that the Micro Grants are too small for a Norwegian citizen, an issue which I formerly have communicated to, among others, Ana Leal. It has especially been communicated by me several times in discussions within the Grants and Awards Working Group of the Marie Curie Alumni Association, when also suggesting possible solutions. This year’s ISCH conference is however possible, since it is in Sweden. So I submitted an application on 23 April (the same day as I received your reply), which I assume is received. Before submitting (on 23 April), I was told that by filling in organization my profile would be 100 %. As I am an independent scholar for the time being (and which is the reason I have applied for the micro grant), I filled that in, and was told it was 100 %. Today I am told it is 95 %, so am getting a bit confused now. I am also told that by filling in my role in the project, it will be 100 %. I have done that. Due to practical reasons, could you be so kind and tell when I will know the outcome of the application?
Regards,
Evy Johanne Håland
Dear Evy,
We received your application for a travel micro-grant on 2017-04 23 at 22h20.
This is now being processed (via the ExCom) and one of my colleagues (probably Joana Santos) will be contacting you soon. Please note that, as stated on the micro-grant calls page (https://www.mariecuriealumni.eu/micro-grants) “Since this is a continuously open Call, the Executive Committee will make decisions by the end of the month succeeding the month of applications received (example: Applications submitted in June will be evaluated in July) and the results will be communicated by individual message through the MCAA web-portal.” … so you should receive a reply by the end of this month.
The change in your %-completeness was due to the EC and the MCAA Board asking us to introduce a new mandatory field into member profiles (so the 100% target ‘got bigger’) – as long as you are over the 90% level this is not a problem. (As we also ‘moved the goal-posts’, we will also be tolerant of lower profile values for those who had already submitted applications before the change.)
There have been recent discussions about reform to the micro-grant system, including larger grant values and/or variation according to various criteria; no firm decisions have yet been made, but as soon as the rules change, we will update the pages/forms and inform members.
Best regards,
Simon
communication of results will be by "the end of the month succeeding the month of applications received", so, last day to expect result is April 30th+/-3days for March, 2017 applications.
Dear all. I am also interested in this thread. On May 3rd I sent an email to contact@mariecuriealumni.eu in response to the Micro Grants announcement. Since I haven't received a response yet, I copy-paste my message here, in hope it also helps someone else. I think (I hope) I am not the only one experiencing the issue described below :)
"Dear MCAA Team,
thank you for your message, I always read the news with interest.
I have a question about the micro-grants: every time I try to apply for small contributions, for travel or the like, the default answer is “you have your MC money”. Which is true, I just started my project and indeed I have 19k euro for the next 2 years to cover my travels, publications, etc. So I was wondering, am I eligible for the micro grants? If so, what motivation do I have to provide so that I do't get a “you have your own money” response? Thank you very much :)"
Federica Bressan
Dear Federica,
I apologise for the slow reply to your message, but I was rather hoping one of the team who manage the process could reply, but it seems that with many new applicants, plus the payment process for many of the GA micro-grants still not fully completed, they did not yet have time.
Each micro-grant application is considered on its own merits by the ExCom (provided it meets the necessary minimum requirements and rules for consideration). Amongst the various factors taken into consideration is the ‘level of need’; under this, a member who has finished their MC project (and thus no longer has access to the funds available under the project to cover travel, publications, etc.) might be considered as a higher priority than members still able to access such project funds. However, not all MC projects are the same, and not all host organisations apply the rules in the same way, and it is by no means rare to find that even while the project is running, the project funds might not be released or authorised.
In brief, the situation is not always clear-cut, and the ExCom sometimes finds it difficult to reach a fair decision. There has been some recent discussion concerning reform of the micro-grants process and rules; no firm decisions have yet been made, but as soon as the rules change, we will update the pages/forms and inform members.
Best regards,
Simon
