Dear all, I was informed that I have to fill in the questionnaire from the title. Before taking the time to do it, I would be very grateful if you could share your previous experience with it, more precisely did you feel that your feedback from the questionnaire was taking in the consideration by the EC to further improve the MSCA or it is just another bureaucratic form that I have to fill in for statics purposes? Thank you in advance. Stefania

Dear Stefania, the MSCA is a huge program that gives enourmous flexibility to the individual and to the organisations taking part in it. Over the past 20 years the conditions of the programme have evolved to be more aligned with the needs and rights of researchers; If the REA monitored every one fo the 20,000 plus researchers under contract the programme costs woudl spiral and that WOULD be a bureacratic nightmare... So the ways of hearing from recipients of the funding about their experience is a direct way of raising issues to the attention of the program managers. By surveys it is possible to see trends and patterns emerging that otherwise stay hidden, and thus the train would chug on, never adpating, never solving new issues. Apart from asking direct beneficiaries like you, there are many other routes by which the programme is tuned to the needs of Europe. On the other hand, public funds require evidence of proper utilisation and to hear that all has gone well for the vast majority of beneficiaries is a mainstay of the political will to continue the programme. For your information, this will be severley tested overe th enext 24-30 months and define the scope of the programme for the next 100,000 MSCA researchers from 2021 to 2028 or so.... If no one filled in the "bureacratic forms" the programme would stop, and where would YOU and they be then? There is no such thing as a publc funding free lunch, but I can tell you after 35 years in science administration, it is the nearest thing you'll ever find. So is it so much of a burden to tell the people who fund you so generously - what you think?
