Dear MCAA Members,

I am very pleased to inform you that, in agreement with the Board, the Events and Networking Working Group of the Marie Curie Alumni Association will be sponsoring the 23rd Annual Meeting of the European Association of Archaeologists 2017. The EEA 2017 will take place in Maastricht, at the time of the 25th anniversary of Maastricht Treaty, from 30-Aug to 3-Sept.

This year the E&N WG will setup a booth at the MECC conference venue in order to promote MCAA’s activities. The attendance numbers is expected to be of about 2000-2500 participants.

Next year we are planning to take advantage of the Annual Meeting EEA 2018, which will be held in Barcelona (Spain), 4-8 Sept, so at to convoke a special session addressed to current and previous MCAA alumni. Since many of these alumni are archaeologists and members of the EAA, we plan to become a focal point for these MCAA fellows (past and present): the particular community of MCAA archaeologists within the EAA is pretty dynamic and powerful in terms of intellectual ambition and practical relevance.

The EAA is an Association for all archaeologists of Europe and beyond. It has participatory status with the Council of Europe. It is a member of the European Heritage Alliance 3.3 and has been chosen to be one of the Voices of Culture and Heritage for the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018. The organisation has involved more than 10,000 members in its 22 years of existence.
