Moving the IF to another university

1 min read Jan 28, 2018
Hi everyone, I have just been shortlisted for a lectureship that should start in September 2018. My fellowship will finish only in April 2019. As to sell them the possibility to come later, I was wondering if it was possible to move the fellowship from one university to another? This way, if contracted, I could bring the money with me while making them wait for the start of the position. Thank you for your help

Moving your IF is possible under certain circumstances. You shoud contact your local contract manager at your university; and they should contact the Project Manager at REA to disucss the details. For example, an IF requires your full time committment to research, and is endowed with generous funding to that effect. If you then take a different full time post, the situation of mobility of the grant may not arise.

Hi Meriam, you may have found it by now, but there is information on how to request a transfer of the fellowship to a new institution in the Grant Agreement (Article 56). However, it notes that it can be requested if there are "serious reasons affecting... capacity to implement the action". I am not sure that an opportunity to take up a new (full-time) position would be viewed as an acceptable reason. Your Project Officer can also advise on the preparation (or not) of a request.

Best of luck, Daniel
