Update on election of a chairperson

On

Hi everyone, In a previous post, the quesiton about what happened to the election of a chairperson came up. Unless someone volunteered, I think that we are without an official chairperson for the time being. I am forwarding you here what I wrote to Mr. Simon Robinson about the future of our chapter, what he replied and what was forwarded to the MCAA board. I think (and hope) that we will be allowed to continue our chapter but we will have to be more active and conform more to the MCAA guidelines. Dear Simon, I hope that I am finding you in good spirits, everything is in order here in Copenhagen. The deadline for candidates for chairperson of the Greek Chapter is fast approaching and I am not sure whether someone has come forward by either writing to you or in another non-public manner. Given your warning ("past experience with 'remote Chairs' based outside the Chapter area have conclusively demonstrated that this is virtually impossible to manage effectively."), I decided not to volunteer. Having said that, I hope that you can see that hasn't stopped me from trying to organise the chapter, collect info on our members, suggest actions, approach old members and sign up new ones. Some people have indicated willingness to help out either in the public posts or in private messages. Although the activity in the Greek Chapter leaves a lot to be desired, I would urge you to not shut us down, but instead please give us a probation period of 6-12 months where we try get our act together and perform along the MCAA guidelines. If we can't make it until the timepoint, then by all means shut the chapter down. I hope that you take my suggestion and the current spike in activity in consideration. Thanks for your help and time, Dimitris Dear Dimitris, Any decision about the Greek Chapter is to be taken by the MCAA Board, so totally out of my hands. I will ensure that your message is brought to their attenttion. My feeling is that the Board do not want to close the Chapter, but they need to see some form of revival of activity to keep it going. Best regards, Simon Dear all, This morning I received the following message (via the in-site messaging system) from Dimitrios Typas: Dear Simon, I hope that I am finding you in good spirits, everything is in order here in Copenhagen.
