Anyone in Grenoble? Any advice about returning back to France?

Dear all, 

I am going to move back to France in a few months, but in a city that I do not know at all: Grenoble. Is anyone of you based there? Any recommendation on where to get an apartment (or where not to, it looks like the city can be rough) ? 
Also I was wondering if you have any tip on how to best navigate the procedures to follow to return to France...
