Interested in joining forces with us?
The MCAA has strong expertise in science policy, research assessment and career development, mental health in academia, science communication, and the European research and innovation landscape in general. This makes the Association an excellent partner for a wide range of projects, including Coordination and Support Actions (CSA). The MCAA has participated as a beneficiary in several calls under various European programmes.

Strengthening CoARA and Enabling Systemic Reform of Research Assessment - A Booster (CoARA Boost)
The CoARA Boost project will strengthen the Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) ramp-up, enhancing its operational capacity and providing means to investigate and implement new models for research assessment. By amplifying its spectrum of actions and providing the additional capacity to implement a Cascade funding programme, CoARA Boost will allow the development of a critical mass for reforming research assessment, generate gravitas for new members, and facilitate the leveraging of additional funding sources. The overarching objective of the CoARA Boost Project is to contribute to enabling systemic reform of research assessment following the principles and commitments of the Agreement on Reforming Research Assessment.

MCAA new horizon: Enhancing the impact of MSCA Alumni on the European Research Landscape
The MCAA-new-horizon project focused on managing the Association’s activities, Working Groups, and regional Chapters, as well as alumni engagement and networking initiatives. It also handled policy and institutional issues, providing feedback to the European Commission about MSCA policies. The project also carried out dissemination activities to promote the MSCA to different audiences across Europe and beyond.

Open Universal Science (OPUS)
The Open and Universal Science (OPUS) project coordinated and supported reforming the assessment of research and researchers at Research Performing Organisations (RPOs) and Research Funding Organisations (RFOs) towards a system that incentivises and rewards researchers’ Open Science practices. We understand the term Open Science to refer to practices providing open access to research outputs, early and open sharing of research, participation in open peer review, measures to ensure the reproducibility of results, and involving all stakeholders in co-creation.

European Citizen Science (ECS)
The overall objective of the ECS project is to widen and strengthen the European Citizen Science community through capacity-building and awareness-raising activities, such as the creation of a European Citizen Science Academy and the establishment of a network of 28 ECS Ambassadors. The ECS project capitalises on EU-funded actions such as the EU Citizen Science platform and the Cos4Cloud project to support links and collaboration between members of the European Citizen Science community, who will be involved in the co-design and co-creation of a large variety of services, strategic priorities, training opportunities, and policy recommendations.

GAMMA-MRI: the future of molecular imaging
Stroke is the second most common cause of death worldwide, and the extent of ischaemic damage is the determining factor for treatment. There is a very narrow time window of a few hours for treatment initiation, but point-of-care molecular imaging is lacking. The GAMMA-MRI project proposes the development of a breakthrough imaging technology that manipulates gamma rays with MRI, combining the best of these two technologies. This novel device incorporates artificial intelligence and is expected to advance molecular imaging while bringing the personalised early management of stroke a step closer to reality.
