Scientist for EU campaign: get involved!
Scientists for EU (SfEU) is a campaign led by UK scientists to keep the UK in the EU.
Scientists for EU was initiated by Dr Mike Galsworthy & Dr Rob Davidson on May 8, 2015. This was the day after the UK General Election when the Conservative win ensured that there would be a referendum on the UK’s membership of the EU.
Active scientists within the campaign consider that science and innovation are key issues for three reasons:
- The first is the importance of science, research and innovation to the UK’s economic future.
- The second is that science is one of the EU’s greatest success stories and a key boost to national innovation capacity.
- The third is that modern science and technology tackle global challenges through international frameworks.
Scientists for EU will campaign for continued EU membership and will communicate the current and future benefits of the EU to the UK via its impact on science capacity.
