Climate change chapter
Hello,
anybody is interested to create an international chapter on climate/global change in all its points of view (atmosphere, economy, social ...) for establishing new collaborations and hopefully write big projects (e.g. EU "cooperation") and communicate to a wider audience of non-experts?
If you are interested, please write me.
Riccardo

Hello Riccardo,
I am interested too, My back ground is Solid state physics, I had experience in Hydrogen storage materials which is directly related to "Pollution control by replacing fossil fuels with hydrogen". Currenltly I am working in University of Aveiro, Portugal as a Post Doc.

Hello Riccardo,
I am interested too, my background is microbial ecology and biotechnlogy (bacterial and fungi species in soils and change in populations due to environmental changes, bioremediation of polluted sites...). It would be very nice also for me to collaborate in the communication to non-scientific audience, topic that I love.
Best regards,
Salvador
Hello,
we are not enough yet, for creating a chapter. If you know someone else interested please inform them since the deadline is approaching and we also need sometime for writing the proposal. I think for doing something interesting we should be at least 10 people.
Riccardo
Dear Riccardo,
here I am! I have just seen your post and I find it would be very interesting to have such a chapter. In addition I may suggest to broaden its scope a little bit. We may have a chapter of "concerned scientists" where many issues of global relevance may be addressed.
For example, besides climate change, human rights, food security, sustainable development etc. are topics where scientists should speak out and advocate. I am currently in the US and here they have many commitees and associations of concerned scientists. I think it may be a good idea having a similar initiative in Europe.
Of course, to start off, we may focus on climate change only; having a broader scope from the start may serve for a long term evolution of the chapter.
best wishes
marco
Hello guys,
thank you for your interest. I'm really sorry, but I unfortunately have too many deadlines in this period and I'm not able to write down the short proposal for climate change. If some of you would like to go ahead is welcome, I can contribute with some short input.
Riccardo
Hi Riccardo, unfortunately I won't be able to help with such a short notice. I added a line about global issues in the draft of the document for the Science Policy working group...if it will be kept in the final version, it would constitute a starting point for proposing and coordinating activities realted to climate change :-) best wishes, marco
Hi guys,
The deadline is in three days. It is a pity that Riccardo is that busy, but there are lot of deadlines these days. Unfortunately, I do not have long experience with the economical part of grant proposals. I can help with some ideas about workshops or comunications for non-scientific audience... Or maybe is better to plan something for a possible next call, if there is a next call...
What do you think?
Salvador
Hi guys,
Great to see you so motivated!
Only to help with a detail. Salvadore wondered if there will be a next call. I can confirm that we are planning to have another call this year. We have not discussed details, but definatelly it cannot be before June.
Good luck with your deadlines and hard work :)
Snezana
Thanx Snezana,
this is a good news so we have time for collecting ideas, creating the network and writing down the proposal. Let´s go for the second call.
Riccardo
Dear Riccardo,
yes I am interested. I would be exploring the philosophical/moral dimension of the problem (I am a political philosopher and I teach at the University of Catania, currently holding a IOF with returning phase at the CNR - Roma).
Let me know. I may also get few other MC alumni from unict.
Ciao
