There are two portuguese scientists and writers that are incredible science communicators. David Marcal and Carlos Fiolhais. Try to google them and good luck with this initiative! That is awesome!

For the past two years I have been organizing Cafe Scientifique in Athens, Greece. This is a series of monthly science talks free and open to the public on various topics, held in a cafe in central Athens. I can talk about my experience, or you can get one of the local organizers of Cafe Scientifique near you to speak at your course.

The ability to communicate scientific results is becoming more and more important and I am glad you brought that up.
Jean-luc Doumont is an expert on this topic and his work about Effective Communication was recently published in Nature. I had the pleasure to attend one of his seminars during my PhD at University Ghent and it has had great impact on my work.
