MCAA Call for Volunteers - Annual Conference & General Assembly 2019
Dear MCAA and Austrian Chapter member, As you may be aware, the 2019 MCAA Annual Conference (AC) and General Assembly (GA) will be held in Vienna (at the University of Vienna/Uni. Wien) on Sunday 24th February and Monday 25th February respectively. Details and registration facilities will be available online shortly. To support the organisation of the event, we are now looking for a small number (around 20-25) of ‘local’ volunteers to assist with various duties, including: Assisting the Contractor in the pre-event setting up and clearing the venue post event Welcoming and assisting participants, in particular at Registration Assistance with directing people to the right place, etc. Poster session, assisting the Contractor in preparation of posters before the event Cloak-room duties/security Supporting the various workshops and sessions (technically and logistically) Accompanying the different ‘social events’ (city tours, etc.) First Aid This list is not exhaustive, but this a great opportunity to experience and support the MCAA from a different angle, as well as it giving you good visibility to other members, meeting speakers, the Board and international attendees. Your volunteering will still allow you to participate in various sessions as your time will be for short allocated periods. We need volunteers to be present throughout Saturday, Sunday and Monday (this includes social events in the evenings). We need people who are friendly and reliable, with a good knowledge of English (and if possible other languages – in particular German); local knowledge of Vienna (dining, entertainment, places of interest etc.) would be an added advantage. . On Saturday, you will receive training by the Uni. Wein staff and a briefing from a member of the Contractor/GA Task Force. As an acknowledgement of the generous gesture of support, the MCAA will cover the cost of dinner on Sunday and Monday (subject to the days given). We will present all volunteers with a certificate for their contribution and recognise their support by naming volunteers on the MCAA website. As the Austrian Chapter is a key player in organising the event, we are offering this opportunity to the Austrian Chapter members as a priority. If there are not enough volunteers, we will then open the offer to any member resident in the Austrian area. If you are ready and willing to help, please reply by e-mail to the contact@mariecuriealumni.eu address by 31st October 2018. Please confirm in the e-mail your availability for the three days, any special skills or expertise you can offer. Best regards, The MCAA Team
