MCAA Executive Committee Meeting | 2nd Feb 2016
Dear MCAA Members,
Today we have an online Executive Committee (ExCom) Meeting. In these meetings, we make decisions, execute the pending tasks and try to get as many things off our To-Do list as possible. Currently, we are working hard to make our upcoming General Assembly a big success.
Do you have any questions or comments that you would like to ask the ExCom. Post it in the comments below. I will ask them on your behalf and will get back to you with the answers. If you are a tweeter user, you may also use tweet your questions to @Roy_Someshwar with Hashtag #MCAA
Regards, Roy

Hello All,
I am part of the EU Marie Curie Actions called International Outgoing Fellowship for Career Development. I am writing as Chair of the Italy Chapter.
With the aim to contribute to the MCAA polices, I would like to ask you for your input/feedback on the opportunity to create new local chapters in the main universities hosting of Marie Curie researchers as a way of facilitating the communication with members and engaging them in the development of the association.
The aim of the Local chapters could be not only to build a strong network among the Marie Curie researchers, research managers, senior professors, enterprises, as a sort of “friends of Marie Curie Alumni Association”, but also to give a support to the future fellows.
I am available for any kind of clarification, so please, do not hesitate to contact me.
With my best regards,
Angela Bellia
Hi Angela,
I love your idea of enlarging the network to other parties; the association wolud benefit of it! We may need to refine the details in order to make it successful. Will you be at the GA in Venice? If yes we can meet there and think of a possible way to do it.
best wishes
marco
Hi Angela,
In the GA, we will present a new proposal of restructuring the MCAA member's profile and organization. This will allow to creat small task forces to engage on different activities. Your idea of Local Chapter could be implemented as well in this new framework. Let's try to discuss during the GA how this could be achieved?
Thank you,
Mauricio
Hi Angela,
You don't need any introduction. Of course, I know you :) Hope all is going well with the NI Chapter, one of the most active Chapter of MCAA.
Your idea makes perfect sense to me. There are some Universitities which receive such a huge number of Marie Curie Fellows every year that I will not be surprised if their membership strength is more than some of our regional chapters.
It is also very easy to implement to get it going. The only thing is we cannot call them "Chapters" as it does not comply with the definition as stated in the MCAA Statute. As a first step, you can set the ball rolling by creating a "Group" in the MCAA portal. And then lets discuss this at the GA, how it can be integrated into the overall structure of the association.
Such local groups can play a big role in the organic growth of MCAA. Thank You for caring to share this idea with us.
See you in Venice!
Dear All,
many thanks for your messages and suggestions!
Yes, I will be in Venice. I will very pleased to discuss during the GA how the "Local Group" (?) can be integrated into the overall structure of the association.
See you in Venice,
Angela
