NHS & Additional Health Insurance

Dear Colleagues,
I will come to London with a MSC Fellowship this autumn, together with my partner. As far as we've understood, there should be no problem for either of us to get accepted by the NHS – or did you encounter any difficulties with that?
And, based on your experiences, do you consider NHS coverage sufficient, or would you rather recommend choosing an additional private insurance, either from the UK or from one's home country, for the time in the UK?
Any advice is most welcome, many thanks in advance!
Christian

My wife and children all got accepted by NHS. NHS coverage is sufficient, but not on the level that your are accustomed to in Germany (as I assume that's where you're from). Whether or not you want/need additional coverage is something that only you can decide.
Once you have arrived in the UK you should apply for a EHIC, to provide basic coverage in other EU countries, e.g. During visits to your home country. https://www.gov.uk/european-health-insurance-card

Hi Christian,
assuming you come from Germany - that should be no problem at all (at least in pre-Brexit times). I moved also with my partner in 2015 and normal NHS treatment was always sufficient for us.
Best,
Jannis
