1 year is not that much time. Should be for a longer period, at least 2 years.

It depends on many factors and it is hard to generalize. Some situations may require the chair to stay longer and some other to have a frequent rotation. Members of each chapter/WG should take this decision democratically. Having elections every year sounds a reasonable solution. Elections can be made quickly using online tools.

Until a chair has established all the connections and networks for successful managing and knows how everything works it will need some time. Also sometimes it might be difficult to find a candidate for taking over. For less active/some Chapters/Working Groups a rotational system of 1 year could work, but I would vote for a 2-year timespan. And for the possibility of reelection of the former chair for one more period.

I agree with Frauke Kersten and vote no, since more time to establish oneself in the position would be beneficial.

I think one year period is too little. Organizing Chapter or Working group is quite a work and take times for things to start going, so for me ideal should be two year rotaion time. Best regards,

I graduated from Erasmus Mundus program, the preriod for election is one year, however, if after one year, the leader want one more year, she or he need to submit one report to state his contribution.

It is just an election, no campain. one year is enough to do something, if well planned, which should be the requirement for candidate. Why not have selection/year? And election will remind people to join the group.
