Project Management in collaborative research projects
Dear all, I would like to learn more of your experience with project management software tools. We are going to coordinate a bigger consortium and right now we are setting up the infrastructure and communication methods. Do you have experience you would like to share? Did you work with platforms like Asana or Trello? Other? What was useful for you? Pro's / Con's? Apart of the PM aspects: How did you exchange working papers with version history?
We would need strong data protection measures. I would love to hear your input!
Thank you!
All best
Frauke

Hi Kersten,
Thanks for bringing up this importrant issue. I used both of them: I started to use Asana and moved to trello which I am using for one year and half. Trello is a wonderful software for managing projects/especially scientific project. I liked the following
- We used one board for each project and one column for each project phase. Under each card, you can also define list of tasks.
- Variety of apps/extensions can be integrated with trello.
- You can fix a deadline for each task which can be shown in the board calendar. However, this option needs further improvement. In case of traditional project management structure, the timeline is very important. Unfortuantely, there's no way to do that in trello.
To me, so far trello is the best tool for project management comparing it's flexibility, operating systems, options etc.
Hope that helps! Feel free to ask any questions.
