The International Lab for Local Capacity Building (www.capacitylab.org) at the Bremen Spatial Cognition Center, University of Bremen, Germany, announces the following open position (under the condition of job release):

Research Assistant / Research Fellow A269/15

Information and Communication Technology for Development (ICT4D)

Responsibilities: 1) to design, maintain, and implement mobile software for use under adverse conditions; 2) to supervise student software development projects for computer science and digital media students; 3) to build upon the Capacity Lab’s activities in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and help expand the network of research and development partners; 4) to publish research results in international peer-reviewed outlets; 5) to assist in seeking external funding for future activities.

Required qualifications and experience: Applicants should have

A master or PhD in computer science or a closely related discipline
A strong motivation to research and develop ICT concepts of particular relevance to developing societies, such as health, education, agriculture, disaster management, or livelihood
Good communication skills for collaboration with national and international partners
Interest in project acquisition
Good team player skills

Salary range according to the German Federal pay scale TV-L 13, approx. 40,000 – 48.000 € p.a.
