Travel Grants for Early Career Researchers available for Conference on Global Doctoral Education

1 min read Nov 30, 2018

The international conference on "Revisiting Forms and Forces in Doctoral Education Worldwide" takes place on September 5-6, 2019. It is hosted by the Volkswagen Foundation at Schloss Herrenhausen in Hannover. The focus of the conference is on reviewing the changes in global doctoral education and discussing, enhancing, and disseminating future-oriented advancement of doctoral education and related policies.

I encourage doctoral candidates or junior researchers (max up to 8 years after the doctorate), who feel they can contribute to the debate, to apply for travel grants to this event: https://www.volkswagenstiftung.de/sites/default/files/downloads/ECR_call__DocEd2019.pdf

The closing date for submitting an application for travel grants is Friday, January 4, 2018 at 17:00 CET.

Hello Brian, I am not sure it opens for ECRs in STEM dicipline as it states in 'Who should apply' section: You undertake research into doctoral training or the career path of doctoral holders.

Hi Xu,

I know what you mean. MCAA still has some people, who are either directly involved in such research or are active inside MCAA to influence the training of doctoral and postdoctoral researchers.

This is open to ECR's in all disciplines. The mention of those doing research in the areas of docotral careers is to emphasise that area, not to exlcude other (I am on the conference organising committee), Conor

Thanks for clarifying this, Conor. You comments are very helpful for ECRs in other disciplines.
