Webinar "Enhancing Financial Management in MSCA Projects"

Webinar on Financial Project management

The MCAA Research Management Working Group organises a webinar on Financial Project management.

When: Tuesday April 2nd, 10:00-11:00 (CET)

Who:    Laia Lagunas (Guest) from Josep Carreras Leukaemia Research Institute, Spain
Title:     Enhancing Financial Management in MSCA Projects: Avoiding Risks and Tips

The survey conducted by the MCAA Research Managers Working Group highlighted members' strong demand for practical, directly applicable skills, knowledge, or tools in project management, enabling the immediate implementation of lessons learned.

Marie Curie Sklodowska Curie Actions (MSCA) operate under the "Unit Cost" funding scheme, which simplifies financial reporting compared to other European project schemes. Financial reporting relies on declared months in the portal, with automatic calculations performed by the online tool. Nonetheless, Project Managers (PMs) overseeing these projects must diligently monitor project costs, particularly those associated with tasks led by the coordinator across the consortium, while also managing their institution's budget.
The objective of this training session is to elucidate the basics of financial management, focusing on two project types: MSCA Doctoral Networks and Cofund projects. This aims not only to impart fundamental financial knowledge but also to identify potential financial risks PMs may encounter during project implementation. Drawing from the experience of our institute, the Josep Carreras Institute, which collaborates with other research networks, we anticipate an engaging discussion
