Questions on Secondments and Interim check meeting

Here are my answers/experiences;

1. Indeed, no double rent or travel costs (to the country location, but also if travel is needed within the country from work to home and vv..that is what we would also pay in their normal place of recruitment. I am not the financial projectcontroller, so I do not know in the end what kind of costs they declared, but I would not pay extra for meals, I mean, they can cook at home right? ;-) Sometimes they are lucky and go to a less expensive country for their secondment, and sometimes not..but I don't suppose they pay money back to the grant when they go to a cheaper country either, right?

2. Be aware of what you wrote in the proposal, and also of the fact that remote secodments are no longer allowed. Also, I think there is strict guidance that the ESRs need to be stationed at the premises of the company/beneficiary that hosts them. So, if you really want to do things differently, I would contact the PO and discuss it, to make sure it does not cause problems later.

3. (actually your second 2..;-)) Yes, I organized the interim check also at location (before corona..;-)), during the annual meeting. It was one day, strict program obviously (template agenda can be found on the web) and we didn't practice with all ESRs beforehand, but I am sure every ESR practices at their institute, especially because of the strict timing. Most important (in my experience) is bot so much the research, but more that they want to make sure the ESRs are "embedded" well in the institute and program, they get the help they need, are aware of their rights and obligations, salary questions (that ALWAYS pop up, regardless of how much you tell them before) are answered, etc.
