Satellite event: Mentoring Festival: Celebrating the Spirit of Mentorship

The Mentorship Festival is a dynamic event dedicated to fostering mentorship within the MCAA community. It brings together mentors, mentees, and mentorship stakeholders and highlights the impact of mentoring on career development, research culture, and the research community.

Mentorship is a key component of researchers’ career development and aligns with the MCAA’s vision, reflected in its two mentorship platforms: PEP-CV and MCAA Academy. The Mentorship Festival aims to recognise the value of mentorship as a catalyst for the research community to progress and enable networking not only between mentors and mentees but also with professionals working in research assessment. Showcasing best practices and inspiring cultural change, the festival will empower attendees to build networks, advocate for inclusive research, and drive transformation in research assessment.

The event is structured as follows:

- Welcome & Introduction: Overview of the MCAA Mentorship Programmes, including PEP-CV & MCAA Academy
- Launch of the Pilot Mentoring Programme: Introducing a new initiative within the MCAA Academy
- Best practices in mentoring: Insights from mentorship community managers, organisers and mentor-mentee experiences
- EDI in Mentorship: Discussions on the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) in mentoring and the risks of ignoring these aspects
- Mentorship & networking: Coffee and speed mentoring to foster meaningful connections
- Panel discussion: “Importance of Mentoring, Research Assessment and Research Culture”
