"Women in Science" 1st Erlangen Symposium (9-11 December 2018)
Young female scientists of the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy of the FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg invite you to the first "Women in Science" Symposium of the FAU.
The doctoral and postdoctoral researchers who organized the event came up with the idea of this symposium through the still existing unbalanced gender distribution in Professor and Chair Positions within most universities, especially in the field of natural sciences. The goal is to enhance visibility to the important achievements of scientist women. An excellent international panel with invited speakers from all over the world (USA, France, Spain, United Kingdom, Morocco, New Zealand, and Germany) have been invited. We want to show that despite the difficulties they may have encountered, it is possible to develop an astonishing scientific career and even conciliate a family life. We intend that this symposium is a meeting point that offers the highest scientific quality, debate on the possible problems and alternatives in the chemical sector, as well as give support and advice for young researchers. In addition to talks from invited speakers, short presentations, flash talks, poster presentations and round table discussions are on the agenda. Interested students and junior scientists can already sign up for participation in the symposium
This symposium, which takes place from the 9th to the 11th december 2018, coinciding with the Christmas market period in Germany, will be atractive not only from the scientific point of view but also from the cultural one.
Both male and female junior researchers and students can apply for presenting their contributions. The symposium is free of charge, and the discussions and lectures will be given in English.
