Thank you for your quick reply. This is really helpful and echos the reply of another member I wrote to privately.

Hi Loraine,
I proposed a project on the application of a circular economy approach on the design development of social housing. I submitted my application in the engineering area and specifically in the architecture sub-area since my background is in architecture, the department where I am developing the research is the school of architecture, and the research means to provide outputs in that area. However, the School of Business has been involved in the development of project. Beside the importance of addressing these aspects consistently in the proposal, I think that you should take in account the reviewers' background that the selection of the area implicates. Good look!

HI Marianna
Thank you so much. We decided on the social science panel in the end as this was at the heart of the proposal.

Hi Loraine, I am not in this line of research so just giving you my independent opinion in case it helps. I would not worry to try to match the panel to the applicant's qualification or the host department. Instead, would choose the panel which is the closest match to the actual proposed research project, based on the List of Descriptors in the Guide for Applicants as this gives you an indication of the expertise that will be present in the pool of evaluators for the panel. You want to make sure that the proposal gets to evaluators who will be able to easily grasp the value of the proposed research.
Good luck with the application!
Anett
