Secondment

Hello everyone,

During my fellowship, I am supposed to go to France as part of my secondment. The French institution I will be joining (a Lab of Sociology) is currently preparing the convention. Regarding this, I surprisingly discovered that they ask me to pay £ 650 per month for my stay (this amount is for administrative cost only: no accommodation or anything else is included apart I guess a desk and lab facilities).

Myself but also the research office of my current institution have found this request very high. I was also surprised to understand that I had to pay from my research budget for the secondment. Since the EU offers us this possibility why should it be funded by fellows taking on their own research money? Does anyone who is familiar with secondments and expenses will be able to enlighten me on this issue? Moreover, is the secondment planned in the project compulsory?
