Regarding MSCA-IF Salary
Dear All,
My name is Gurkan Yildirim and I am currently working as a MSCA individual fellow at the University of Bradford, UK within the scope of project entitled "CodeLEGO" which has total EU contribution of €224.933,76. My question is related to the MSCA-IF salary in the UK.
It has been a few weeks now that I am struggling with the finance team here in Bradford to sort out my salary. I feel like I have no option left other than asking other MSCA fellows in the UK to have a general view on my salary since taxation here seems to be huge somehow. They have calculated my annual gross salary as 95.066,88 euros (83.212,99 GBP) (including living, mobility and family allowances altogether), which is fine. However, they finally offered me a contract which has an annual gross salary of 61.818 GBP, after subtracting the additional employment costs and taxes from this salary, the net monthly salary they offered me is around 3500 GBP, which I have found quite low compared to initial annual salary. Then, I have been told that if I opt out of pension then my monthly gross salary will be nearly 6000 GBP.
I assume a MSCA-IF fellow should receive more or less the same salary in the UK. I was wondering to learn how much a MSCA-IF fellow in the UK is approximately earning net monthly? It would be great if you can share your experiences and comment on the contract they have prepared for me after comparing it with your own.
Kind regards,
Gurkan
