Tier 2 visa extension

1 min read Jan 28, 2021

Hi all,

I am an international student who is on a tier 2 work visa. My University has a four year PhD programme. As Marie-Curie fellowship is funded for three years, my visa will expire after three years. Has anyone been in this situation? May I know if applying for a new tier 4 student visa for my fourth year is the right decision?

Recently in 2019, I have done this in Scotland. You might be aware that if you are in Tier 2 and want to continue in Tier 2, you must find another sponsor or leave the country. If you leave the country, you cannot apply another visa…

Hi Abhijit, Short answer: Yes, applying for a Tier 4 visa sounds like the right decision in the circumstance, based on my own experience.
