Why did you decide to run as Chair of the Chile Chapter?

My motivation stems from my experience as a former MSCA-IEF postdoctoral fellow, which provided me the opportunity to conduct innovative research in immunology in an inspiring scientific environment. After completing my postdoctoral fellowship, I returned to Chile, where I am now committed as an academic, to advancing scientific collaborations and fostering a supportive network for researchers. As Chair, I am eager to leverage my experience and passion to enhance the visibility and impact of our chapter.

What will be the objectives of the MCAA Chile Chapter under your tenure?

A major aim will be to engage and mobilize members effectively, especially in a country like Chile, which is both diverse and geographically complex. Another objective is to ensure that the chapter remains relevant and valuable to members amidst a rapidly evolving research landscape. Addressing these challenges will therefore require a collaborative approach and active engagement with both local and international MCAA networks.

What are your plans for the development of the MCAA Chile Chapter?

My primary plans for the Chile Chapter include strengthening and expanding member engagement through workshops, seminars, and networking opportunities. I aim to enhance collaboration with other chapters to create a robust regional and international network. By doing so, I hope to elevate the visibility of Chilean research within the global MCAA community and contribute to the professional growth of our alumni.

Do you already have plans for events and activities? Can you tell us some?

The Chile Chapter remains a small group, but we are aware of new MCAA members who are either arriving in Chile or working here under different research schemes related to MSCA. Our first aim is to engage these new members and demonstrate how this initiative can provide a valuable platform for professional networking, collaboration, and career development. We also aim to facilitate connections in a fun and engaging way!

How will you cooperate with other Chapters and Working Groups?

We are already a connected group that closely interacts with the other MCAA LATAM Chapters. We aim to maintain these valuable connections and foster additional interactions with international Chapters across the globe.

What would you say to members who are considering joining the MCAA Chile Chapter?

Having been a part of the MCAA community and a former vice chair of the Chapter, I have experienced firsthand the benefits of this vibrant group. This is a highly valuable network offering numerous opportunities for local alumni to connect, collaborate, and contribute to the global research and innovation landscape. Being part of this community can also help alumni navigate their professional journeys, share experiences and achieve their goals.
