Bionote

I am Ana Paula Mendonça, a Brazilian researcher in the life science field, based in Padova (Italy) since 2020. I was a Marie Curie Fellow from 2021 to 2023, and I was part of the Newsletter MCAA editorial team from 2022 to 2024. Recognized as an eLife Science Ambassador 2021 and Female Science Talent 2024 by the Falling Walls Foundation.

Why did you decide to run as Chair of the Working Group/Chapter?

I have been involved in the MCAA’s activities since 2022, when I was part of the Newsletter editorial team. I had a great time meeting and networking with some members at the MCAA events. I felt a need to do something different and more challenging, where I could make more impact on my current research community.

What will be the objectives of the Working Group/Chapter under your tenure?

My main objective as a Chair of the Italy Chapter is to engage more people in the MCAA initiatives and to develop a better career perspective for researchers.

What are your plans for the development of the Working Group/ Chapter?

I consider partnership essential to making a long-term impact. I plan to strengthen the community members and make more partnerships with regional scientific foundations and organisations. Lastly, I also plan to establish good contact with the members and show that I am open to receiving their opinions, suggestions, and ideas.

How will you cooperate with other Chapters and Working Groups?

In the MCAA, we have different Chapters and Working Groups aiming to reach the same goal: engage researchers, provide career development opportunities, and support the research community. I believe the best way to cooperate in this context is to work on joint initiatives and advocacy campaigns.

Envisioning better career perspective for researchers

What would you say to members who are considering joining the Working Group/Chapter?

I encourage all Marie Skłodowska-Curie researchers in Italy to join the MCAA and be a member of the Italy Chapter. Joining our chapter would be a great opportunity to expand their network, gain access to valuable resources, and make a real impact with our initiatives. I am always happy to listen to new ideas and collaborate with new people, so feel free to contact me.
