Dear members of the MCAA’s UK Chapter,

Next week will be the end of the first month of 2024. I hope this start will have met your expectations and that the rest of the year promises excellent opportunities. During this year, MCAA and the UK Chapter will stay on your side to support our community and the professional development of their members.

A lot is coming for the MCAA. Information is shared through different association communication channels, like LinkedIn and Twitter. But in case you missed them, some important upcoming events are worth remembering.

First, the General Assembly and Conference will happen from March 14th to 16th in Milan. It will celebrate the 10 years of the association. Program and information are available on the website. All members are welcome to join! You can submit a lighting and poster proposal on the topic of your choice by the 1st of February.

The new MCAA Board and Executive Committee elections will be organised during this event. Please consult the information concerning the application process and the election’s rules. If you wish to apply, know the deadline is 31st January (17:00 CET).

In addition, the MCAA Awards 2023 will also be held. It aims to highlight and reward members for their actions and activities within the community. Four Awards are given: Career Award, Best Innovator Award, Social Impact Award and Outstanding Contributor Award. Please check this link for more information and this link to apply or nominate another MCAA member. The deadline is the 1st of February.

Concerning the Chapter, I am glad to inform you that the internal monthly newsletter started in November. The newsletter will keep you updated on the Association and Chapter news. It can also be used to share information from our members within our community. Keep updated and register via the link on our new Linktree: https://linktr.ee/mcaauk. On this Linktree, you will find all the relevant chapter links: past newsletter releases, communication channels, and resources mentioned in the newsletter.

The other project in the pipeline is the Collaborative Map, aiming to encourage social and networking opportunities through our community spread across the country. The project will be released soon, and further explanation will be provided. If you want to take part in its development, have an idea for an event or provide feedback, please feel free to contact us at united-kingdom.chapter@mariecuriealumni.eu

Finally, ongoing talk and collaboration with the UKRI (UK Research and Innovation) could lead to the opportunity for a seminar. UKRI is in charge of managing Horizon programs and ensures to support MSCA fellows through different services, like the National Contact Point. You can find more information here: https://eufunding.ukri.org/subscribe. They are willing to support our community and are mostly unknown to our members. To organise the best seminar for you, please complete this 2 minutes form by the 12th of February: https://forms.gle/zTtcgtXZicJkbeYV6

Thank you for your attention, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

With my best regards, have a good coming week,

MCAA UK Chapter Chair
